About the training provider

SB Skills Solutions Ltd is dedicated to delivering high-quality training to steel erecting trainees in trade skills. This training is delivered through four recognised accreditation routes: CPCS and NPORS for Slinger Signaller, and ECITB for the Steel Erecting NVQ.

These accreditations are widely accepted across the construction sector, with ECITB being the only awarding organisation for Steel Erectors. SB Skills Solutions Ltd is fully accredited and has extensive experience delivering these qualifications.

Role overview – Steel Erector

Steel erecting is the on-site process of lifting, positioning, and securing structural steelwork to form the frame of buildings and industrial structures. The role involves reading technical drawings, connecting beams and columns using bolting and/or welding techniques, and working safely at height using cranes, MEWPs, and approved lifting equipment.

Successful steel erecting relies on accurate setting-out, temporary stability and bracing, and close coordination between the erection team, crane operations, and site supervision. This ensures that structures are aligned, stable, and ready for follow-on trades while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
